Terms of Service
The rules for using TechRank.
Draft for review. This policy describes what the service actually does today, written in plain language by its operator. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Use it as the operator's statement of how the service works.
What TechRank is
TechRank is a directory of technology companies, mainly in India. It publishes company profiles compiled from each company's own public website, reviews written by clients, and information that companies add about themselves. It is for research and decision support.
Using the site
You do not need an account to search, compare, read reviews, ask a company for a quote or write a review. Use the site lawfully. Do not scrape it at scale, disrupt it, try to get around its limits, or submit false or misleading information.
Company and staff accounts
Accounts exist only for companies and for TechRank staff. A company account is created when we approve a claim of that company's profile. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password and two-factor device safe. Only people authorised to act for a company may claim or manage its profile.
What you submit
You keep ownership of what you submit (reviews, claims, listing requests, descriptions, projects, case studies and logos). You give TechRank a non-exclusive licence to store, display, moderate and, where we must, remove it. Submit only what is true, what you are entitled to share, and nothing unlawful, abusive or confidential.
Logos
A company owner may upload the company's logo. By doing so the owner confirms that the logo is the company's own, that they have the right to use it, and that TechRank may display it on the company's profile and in lists, comparisons and rankings. We convert the picture to a small standard format, keep only the current logo and the one waiting for review (earlier files are deleted), and may refuse or remove a logo that is not the company's own. An owner can remove it at any time, and anyone who believes a logo is shown without permission can write to us using the contact page.
Who says what
Profiles are compiled from the company's own website and labelled with their sources. Descriptions, projects and case studies added by a company are that company's own statements: we check them against our policies but we do not verify them. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them; we confirm only that the writer controls the email address they gave.
No endorsement
Nothing on TechRank is a recommendation or a guarantee. TechRank does not endorse any company and is not a party to any agreement between a visitor and a listed company.
Cost
TechRank is free to use for visitors and for companies during its launch period. If we later introduce paid options for companies, we will announce them in advance on the site, they will apply only to what is newly offered, and payment will never change a company's score or its place in an organic list.
Changes and availability
We may change, suspend or remove features, profiles, reviews or accounts, for example to enforce these terms or the policies they refer to. We aim to keep the site available but do not promise it will always be.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, TechRank is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site or from reliance on information on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are for the courts at Jaipur, Rajasthan.
