Listing Policy
How companies are listed, claimed and described.
Draft for review. This policy describes what the service actually does today, written in plain language by its operator. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Use it as the operator's statement of how the service works.
How profiles are created
We create profiles for operating technology companies from information published on the company's own public website. Each profile names its sources and the date it was checked, and shows "Not stated" where the website did not say. Until the company claims it, a profile is labelled as unclaimed. A company can also ask to be listed with the listing request form.
Removing a profile
An authorised person at a company can ask us to remove its profile at any time with the privacy request form (choose the company profile option) or by writing to the grievance officer. We aim to act on a request from a verified contact within 7 days.
Claiming a profile
To claim a profile you confirm that you are authorised to act for the company and that what you give is true, and you confirm your email address. An address on the company's own website domain is the strongest proof; otherwise our team checks the details you give. A team member approves or rejects every claim, and we record when you confirmed your authorisation.
What a company can change
After a claim is approved, the company can edit its tagline and description, add projects and case studies, answer reviews and receive quote requests. Facts that carry a source, such as founding year, size, offices, services and technologies, are maintained by our team so the directory only states what it can back up.
Accuracy
Companies must keep what they add accurate and must not name clients without permission. Misleading claims, fake projects or fake reviews can lead to removal of content or suspension of the profile.
Badges and ranking
Badges (claimed profile, complete profile, shares its work, responds to reviews) reflect what a company has done on its profile. They cannot be bought. TechRank does not currently sell placements or promotions; if that changes, anything sponsored will be clearly labelled and will not change organic order.
